Majorelle Garden
As a former French colony, Morocco illustrates many facets of the culture and vision of its European occupants. French artist Jacques Majorelle designed the Majorelle Garden in the 1920s. It offers an oasis of lush green vegetation set against a backdrop of vibrant colors, including the famous "Majorelle Blue," a brilliant shade of blue. He designed a large enclosed garden with local plants and trees, constructing bridges, ponds, and small buildings to provide various viewpoints of the fantastic colors.
Relaxation, Moroccan Style
Relax Moroccan style in a magnificent setting. Les Bains de Marrakech is a typically Moroccan spa offering a wide range of treatments (hammam, traditional scrub, massages, facials, etc.). It is oriented toward tourists in the best way: couples can share a hammam together in a private room. If you wish to enjoy Les Bains de Marrakech, a reservation—several days in advance—for any type of treatment is mandatory. Take a taxi to get there; you will find it in the neighborhood called the Kasbah.
Jemaa el-Fna and the Souk
The bustling central square of Jemaa el-Fna is where locals gather to listen to storytellers, watch performers, and buy fresh mint for tea. The square leads to the famous souks of Marrakech, whose winding streets are lined with the vibrant colors of shoes, scarves, lanterns, and carpets. Haggling for the best price becomes an art form; the shopkeepers are not intrusive, and the experience is a complete pleasure.
