Dishes to taste in Morocco

Zaalouk

Zaalouk is an authentic spicy Moroccan salad made from mashed eggplants and tomatoes flavored with numerous spices. Moroccan families generally serve it as an appetizer accompanying main meals, namely tajine or marqa (boiled vegetables with meat and sauce). It can be prepared in minutes and can be served alone with bread for quick snacks. Since it is spicy, it helps stimulate the appetite. In the Middle East, they have a somewhat similar salad called Baba Ghanoush. People usually eat it cold, but you can also enjoy its irresistible spicy taste while it is still hot.

Steamed and Stuffed Chicken

It is considered among the prestigious dishes that Moroccans serve to their special guests. During ceremonies and special festivities, people prepare it as a staple meal with a thick, spicy sauce and marinated lemon. Nowadays, people prepare it more often as a regular lunch dish. With bread, cooked vegetables, and salad, it can be an incredibly delicious and rich meal.

Rfissa

Rfissa is an authentic traditional Moroccan dish. It is famous among Moroccans even though it may not be considered an everyday dish. The exchange of visits between Moroccan women is very common, and "Rfissa" is considered a special dish to serve on such occasions. Traditionally, it is prepared for a woman after childbirth for its rich nutritional elements, and as an act of gratitude and reward from the family.

It is considered a feminine dish par excellence, but men love it as well.
